Eddy Vanoosthuyse (1959, Kortrijk, Belgium) is the solo clarinetist at the Brussels Philharmonic/Flemish Radio Orchestra and professor clarinet at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent. Throughout the years, Vanoosthuyse has built a solid international career, as he is performing worldwide and is scheduled regularly at international festivals. Because of his passionate dedication to modern music, he is in contact with many of the most notable composers of his time including: John Corigliano, Olivier Messiaen, Alfred Prinz, Dirk Brossé, Scott McAllister, Jan Van der Roost, Boudewijn Buckinx, Willy Soenen, Raoul De Smet, Luc Brewaeys, David Loeb, and Wim Henderickx. Many of these composers have either dedicated works to him, or asked him to perform their new oeuvre. His performance of the clarinet concerto (Belgian premiere) of the American composer and Oscar winner, John Corigliano, was praised by the composer and press. His love for chamber music is emphasized by his frequent performances with several outstanding string quartets such as the Vilnius Quartet, Simon Bolivar Quartet, Danèl Quartet, Chile Quartet, and Ciurlionis Quartet, resulting in his having performed the Quintet of Mozart more than 50 times. In 2009, Eddy Vanoosthuyse founded his own chamber ensemble. The basis for which is formed by the clarinet with a string quartet. In addition to this new ensemble, he created a trio together with Vitaly Samoshko (first laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for piano, 1999) and Michael Kugel (viola). Eddy Vanoosthuyse gives masterclasses and is a guest professor at numerous conservatories and universities all over the world
