About the founder
Aliud Records was founded in 1982 by Jos Boerland (born 1961 in Veendam, the Netherlands), who has worked as a recording, mixing and mastering engineer for more than forty years. An early adopter of digital production, he moved to digital CD mastering in the 1980s and later to high-resolution DSD and DXD workflows. In 2008 he began recording with a height layer for 3D playback and was in contact with Wilfried Van Baelen of Galaxy Studios during the development of Auro-3D. Since then all Aliud productions have been captured for immersive release, with deliverables in Auro-3D, Dolby Atmos, stereo and multichannel SACD.
Aliud productions are recorded primarily in acoustic spaces, with minimal processing on input and complete takes where possible.
